The Victorian Modified Production
Association (VMPA) was established in the mid nineties to unify the
Modified Production Drivers in Victoria.
Better prize money and regular, well organised events were the main
goals of the Association'
founder, Di Watson, and after
setting the foundations, the State Series was born.
The Association's signature event is the Di Watson Memorial,
contested at the opening round of the season in honour of our founder.
This event has been won by some of our State, and indeed National Title
holders including Ashley Parkinson, Justin Drew, Trevor Mills, Graham West
and Bryan Galley among others, and is held in high regard among
competitors.
Racing is conducted over the summer racing season, and takes us all
over the State. From Mildura
in the north, to Bairnsdale in the South, the VMPA and it's competitors
have covered most corners of the State, as well as the occasional
interstate foray, although recent cost containment measures dictate
staying inside our State's boundaries.
The
ASCF/SSA National Modified Production Title gives our drivers the
opportunity to gauge their competitiveness against the rest of the
country. In recent years, VMPA
members have formed the majority in the top qualifying positions for these
Titles, and have featured predominately in the feature results.
The VMPA is proud of it's member's results, which can be attributed
to the skills they attain through regular, strong competition in the State
Series.
Bass Highway Waste have supported the VMPA through sponsorship of
the Bass Highway Waste State Series for many years, and that support
continues in season '08-'09. With
racing all over the state in the year ahead, we should be at a track near
you............will you be there???
